I did not find the magic of cross country skiing until I was in my late 20’s. But from the very beginning I was hooked. Skiing away from the crowds and what seems to be an endless amount of terrain here at Falls Creek and in the Alpine National Park, was an immediate attraction. As a ski instructor and back country ski guide, I love seeing the delight that first time skiers have when they get that realisation that “I can ski, I can glide and make those skis turn”
Since the 1990’s I have been a cross country and telemark ski instructor, working with various schools, TAFE’s and universities up in the high country. Over the Australian summers you will find me guiding cross country ski trips in Italy and Austria, with my own company, Nordic Ski Adventures. In Australia, during our winter, I now divide my time between working as a XC ski coach, teaching others how to be a ski instructor and instructing here at Falls Creek.
I grew up in Mount Beauty and have cross country skied at Falls Creek for as long as I can remember. What has kept me coming back to cross country skiing is going on adventure skis, learning new techniques, racing and of course, the amazing cross country skiing community we are so lucky to have at Falls Creek. I’ve been a member of the Australian Junior Cross Country Ski team for 3 years and the Australian National Biathlon team for 2.
I regularly train and race during the Australian Winter. While the Northern Hemisphere Winter sees me training and racing in Europe. My highlight is representing Australia at the Youth Olympic Games in South Korea.
